Dr. Huang received his MD degree from National Taiwan University and PhD in virology from Harvard University. After 3-year resident training in internal medicine at National Taiwan University Hospital and 4-year postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School, he started his academic research career as a principal investigator in 2012. His studies focused on deciphering the mechanisms of immune regulations of viral infections. He has authored or coauthored 25 papers and some of them were published in prestigious journals such as Cell, PNAS, Cell Host & Microbe, and EMBO Journal. In 2021, Dr. Huang joined the gene therapy team as a principal scientist at Janssen Research & Development, Johnson & Johnson. His job responsibilities include establishing novel gene delivery platforms and developing various strategies to overcome adeno-associated virus (AAV)-associated immune reactions. The objectives of these programs are to broaden patient populations, facilitate AAV redosing, prevent AAV-associated complications, and achieve cell- or organ-specific gene delivery.
